The Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program helps develop leaders dedicated to fighting hunger, poverty and social inequality. For the past six months Second Harvest Food Bank played host to two of these fellows, Samantha Stevens and David Lazere. Food is Foundational: Hunger Action Summit Recap

Our annual Hunger Action Summit was held on March 14th in partnership with Santa Clara University’s Food and Agribusiness Institute. Over 200 people gathered to hear the latest update about hunger in our community and discuss ways that we can work toward Second Harvest’s vision of a hunger-free community. Local Hunger Fighter: Alfonso Mendez, Operations Manager, Santa Maria Urban Ministry Alfonso has served as Operations Manager for Santa Maria’s Food Pantry, clothes closet, and educational programs since 2010.
