Local Hunger Fighter: Keys School H.E.L.P. Club in Palo Alto, California
The Keys School H.E.L.P. (Helping Everyone Live Prosperously) Club donates the produce from their school garden to Second Harvest Food Bank!
How are you helping Second Harvest and our community?
We are helping Second Harvest and our community by growing, from seed, and harvesting fresh produce for the one purpose of donation. – Illiana and Anna
What inspires you to give?
We are so fortunate and we realize that we have many privileges, and that people near us may not have the access we do. However, healthy food is not a privilege and we want to be a part of changing our community for the better. – Illiana and Anna
When you give, it does not only make myself feel joy but it makes the people you’re helping joyful too. And it really is touching to know you helped create a smile on someone else’s face. – Fiona and Gwen
Who are some of the volunteers that have been doing this a long time? Why do they do it?
It is fun to help people. Helping someone doesn’t only bring joy to them, it brings joy to us! – Cassidy
Making a difference in one person’s life can be as small as donating a penny, but the fulfillment of helping is much greater. This is why I love H.E.L.P. club. – Meera
I do H.E.L.P. club because I can put a smile on someone’s face, and it is such a special experience that you can’t get anywhere else. – Gwen
Why should people care about hunger in our community?
We think people in our community should care about giving to the hungry since we are so fortunate already, so why not give back. Also hunger is universal problem so why not do our best to help end it.
– Fiona and Gwen
