This Saturday, May 14th is the annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive, Stamp Out Hunger. It’s easy to participate in the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Here’s how you can help Stamp Out Hunger:
1) Bag non-perishable food items*
2) Leave bag by your mailbox before mail delivery
3) Your letter carrier will collect your donation and deliver to the Food Bank
* Suggested foods include peanut butter, cereal and canned goods (tuna, soup, stew, vegetables or fruits)

While the national Stamp Out Hunger drive is in its 19th year, San Jose area post offices actually piloted the effort 1 year earlier, so this is a wonderful locally-born tradition!
In 2010 Second Harvest Food Bank received over 391,000 pounds of food. That equals:
- Over 300,000 meals
- Almost 20 semi trucks full of food
- Enough to provide one meal to the entire populations of Sunnyvale, San Mateo and Redwood City
- Enough to feed a sold-out crowd at HP Pavilion for 5 days!
